Get Mindful with the Birmingham Publicity Association this autumn
Event to run on World Mental Health Day in the city

Help move away writers block and clear the inner critic this autumn with a helping hand from the Birmingham Publicity Association
Presenter and mindfulness trainer Charlie Jordan will be hosting and teaching how Mindfulness is good for your Mental Health wellbeing and tips on how to make it part of your day when you work in a stressful environment.
Charlie, who is a former Birmingham Poet Laureate, will be hosting the two-and-a-half hour session at McCann Central in Somerset House, Temple Street to help guests relax into their creative flow.
The event is part of a series of free sessions being held by the Birmingham Publicity Association for its members to not only network with other creatives within the city, but also recognise that we all need a bit of time out from our busy lives.
Spaces are limited for the session, and need to be pre-booked.
Mark McDonagh, Chair of the BPA said: “Holding this event on World Mental Health Day was important for us as the industry we work within can be incredibly stressful and full on. Being creative means we all need a bit of head space, and also need a better work life balance, and we wanted to hold an event that was slightly different to others people come to expect from us.
“Being a part of the BPA isn’t just about drinking, it’s also about connecting to the city and people of similar mindsets. And this is the perfect way for us to combine them all, while also giving our members added value to being a part of our group,”
The Birmingham Publicity Association aims to unite those working in the creative industries across the West Midlands, and is a great way to network and have fun at the same time.
The BPA has existed since the 1930s, supporting the media and creative industries in the region, while raising money for key charities that its members wish to support. Its members include global organisations to sole traders, graduate trainees right up to CEOs and MDs, media owners and agencies, advertising and marketing agencies, digital agencies, PR agencies and freelancers.
Over the years, the BPA has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for local charities, and this year their chosen charity is Acorn’s Children’s Hospice.
Other events planned include the Midlands Media Mingle, Quiz for Dummies and the Christmas Lunch.
The caveats: Yes, you knew there’d be some. While this is a free event for BPA members we will be asking for attendees to pre-register. We will also need to make a charge (£50) for non-attendance. Last cancellation 48 hours before the event please. Only two places are available per member organisation. Thank you.
