Breakfast meetings are generally a bit urgent for us at the BPA but when the topic is FREE new business training on LinkedIn, we’ll make an exception.
Join us at Mediacom Birmingham
23 Colmore Row Birmingham B3 2BS
on Wednesday 6 March 2019
from 9:00 – 12:00 PM
If you’re tasked with developing new business in 2019, you may be finding ‘cold calling’ can be tricky if you rely on email, phone calls and the occasional networking event.
Imagine there was a way of connecting with hundreds of relevant potential prospects who already know you are a trusted expert, potentially able to help them solve their business challenges – even before you have your first conversation!
The good news is – there is – and it’s called LinkedIn!
Our 3-hour workshop will help you fully understand how to use the free LinkedIn platform for new business prospecting and networking.
By the end of the session you will have updated your own profile (bring your laptop if you can) to make sure it’s fit for purpose in the role you have today.
You will learn how to make that first introduction to a new prospect and then how best to follow it up.
You’ll also understand the power of groups – how to find the ones best suited to your business and then how to become an active and engaged LinkedIn user.
The workshop will be hosted by Debra Sharron, Managing Director of Media Sales Training – a boutique specialist agency which has been delivering practical and effective programmes for media owners and commercial teams for over 15 years.
Debra’s clients include The Guardian, News UK, First Radio Sales, Condé Nast, Outdoor Plus and UBM.
Praise for Debra:
“Debra delivered an extremely useful workshop, helping our senior sales people to understand better how to use LinkedIn to widen their contacts and develop their profiles as influencers. The practical content and achievable suggestions combined to make this a valuable few hours - we all left with a clear action plan and an understanding of what we needed to do next.”
Samantha Eardley, UK Sales & Marketing Director, Collins Learning – November 2018
“Debra's social selling course was really helpful in building my professional profile on LinkedIn, and getting started on social selling. She has introduced social selling in a way which was very useful for all our sales members from associates to the management class! I will recommend anyone who would like to get themselves started on social selling.”
Emi Kashiwara , UBM plc – October 2018
The caveat: Yes, you knew there’d be one. While this is a free event for BPA members we will be asking for attendees to pre-register. We will also need to make a charge for non-attendance. Last cancellation 48 hours before the event please. Thank you.
Something new for you folks. A night at the gee-gees... by order of the Birmingham Publicity Association, of course.

Ladies and gentlemen, time to muster your fourballs for the BPA Charity Golf Day 2016.

FOURBALL STANDARD (£280): 18 holes of golf followed by slap-up fish & chips buffet
FOURBALL DELUXE (£310): includes welcome breakfast of bacon baps, tea & coffee, 18 holes of golf followed by slap-up fish & chips buffet
- You will play in your designated fourball.
- However, players will be randomly allocated to either the Sharks or Bandits team.
- You then play Ryder Cup fourball format (¾ Handicap).
- Each hole won represents 1 point. A halved hole is ½ point.
- At the end of 18 holes all points from all games are totted up to see whether the Sharks or Bandits will be victorious!
Each player will be given a team shirt, so we will need your player names, handicaps and shirt size (S/M/L/XL/XXL) along with your booking.
Each player will be able to buy up to a maximum of 3 Mulligan passes @ £10 each.
A Mulligan is a stroke that is replayed from the tee off without penalty, due to an errant shot made on the previous stroke.
The benefit being is that the hole is played and scored as if the first errant shot had never been made. Valuable!
It's a zoo out there!
Each fourball will also be given 4 animal cards. As your fourball progresses around the course you, acquire the cards based on the following golfing calamities.
- CAMEL: In the sand.
- DUCK: In the water.
- GORILLA: Out-of-bounds
- SNAKE: 3-putt (or more)
At the end of the round each card a player has in his possession represents a £10 penalty – all proceeds going to the chosen charities.
Note: Mulligans do not prevent the movement of cards.
To keep the atmosphere light and informal, we have arranged a fish & chips buffet which can be eaten in the SPIKES bar or outside, weather permitting.
Let's have some fun, and raise some money
